Tata Motors has been betting big on electric vehicles and we’ve been seeing the Tata Indica EV and the Tata Nano EV quite regularly now, at most auto shows across the globe. The Vista however is a new entrant to the Tata Motors EV range and was first showcased at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. But that doesn’t make it any less significant as the Tata Indica Vista EV has started selling in Spain for about 24,000 Euros or INR 14 Lakhs.

While that price tag which might come as a shocker to most Indians, it is pretty acceptable for a electricity powered hatchback in Europe. This price tag however might be the biggest deterrent that Tata Motors faces, in order to launch the Vista EV in India sometime in 2011. Even a stripped down Indian variant of the Tata Indica Vista E could cost close to INR 5-6 Lakhs, which in our opinion is terrific value for money for an EV that offers a range of up to 200 Kms for a recharge time of 8 hours and a nought to sixty kph dash in 10 seconds.

The Indica Vista EV’s electric motor will produce about 75 Bhp, which will allow the 1365 kilo car to have a top speed of 128 kph. Knowing Tata Motors, expect to see a decent amount of features for a killer price as and when the Tata Indica EVs hit Indian streets.     As of now, we have no information about the possible pricing of the Tata Indica Vista EV. We’ll keep you posted as and when we get any information about the pricing. Stick around.

    Is TATA INDICA EV2 is having both Electricity & petrol options?

    Zia,

    The Indica eV2′s name is misleading. It has only petrol and diesel options available as of now. The e in the eV2 stands for economy and not electricity.
