Delicious Porsche Spyder 918 may actually be made

Porsche 918 Spyder

Porsche 918 Spyder

We couldn’t take our eyes off this gorgeous machine which was unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow. The Porsche Spyder 918 was a blockbuster which drove the crowds wild with its looks and the technical specs sheet was a bigger hit

If 500 bhp from a 3.4 litre V8 engine doesn’t make your jaw drop, then the name of the transmission just might. The 918 features a 7-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe PDK transmission. Our heart goes out to all those who failed miserably to read that word. Honestly we haven’t figured it out yet.

Jokes apart and back to the Spyder 918. The supercar is an amalgamation of the time tested Porsche lines and the new age Carrera GT styling cues. It can go from 0 to 100kph in 3.2 seconds. That’s quicker than the time taken to read this sentence. The Spyder can go all the way to 316kph and that is no humble feat.

Still unimpressed? How about two electric motors which are fitted to both the axles that produce an additional 218 bhp? Aha…we got your attention. Now let’s give you the best past. It returns a fuel efficiency figure of 32kpl. That’s more than your small car’s mileage.

Now you have the big irrelevant question. Will they make it? The answer is they just might. Do expect Porsche to put it into production within five years. Porsche bosses are completely bowled over by the response that the Spyder 918 has received at Geneva. If it makes it to the roads then it could be the one hybrid supercar which will silence Jeremy Clarkson.

The question isn’t about will they be making it, its rather, when. It’s a matter of time really. If VW means business with Porsche, which they do, it will be sooner than later methinks.
