Despite being in the center of the recall storm, Toyota has thus far been relatively unaffected by engine recalls. That, however has changed now. The ugly recall monster seems to have now invaded even the bomb proof territory of Toyota engines. Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus seems to be most affected by these engine recalls as Toyota has recalled no less than 270,000 Lexuses on engine issues caused by faulty valve springs.

The faulty valve springs could cause a range of issues beginning from abnormal engine noise culminating in the worst case of the entire engine failing to run. The engines affected by this recall are the 4.6 liter V8s and 3.5 liter V6 engines which are currently being used in eight Lexus models including hybrids.

The cars affected by this engine are the 2005-2008 models of the Lexus GS350, GS450h, GS460, IS350, LS460, LS600h, LS600hL and also the Crown sedans. This recall could be the one that hurts the most for Toyota as super reliable engines have been something of a Toyota hallmark and something that Toyota pride itself on. Sadly, the latest recall seems to have scarred Toyota inexorably for now.
