Recall Saga hits Detroit: GM to recall 1.3 Million compacts in US, Candada & Mexico

The car industry has been reeling with the recall saga getting murkier with every passing day. Detroit too, has decided to now join the circus with General Motors announcing a recall of 1.3 Million compact cars sold under a multitude of GM brands.
The recall is due to the steerings of a few GM cars tightening up without warning at speeds of under 15 Mph. The recall affects 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Cobalts, 2007 to 2010 Pontiac G5s, 2005 and 2006 Pontiac Pursuits sold in Canada and 2005 and 2006 Pontiac G4s sold in Mexico.
The power steering tightens up at low speeds, which while not dangerous enough to cause extensive damage could still result in pedestrian deaths prompting GM to issue this mass recall before any major damage is done. General Motors has announced that it will recall older vehicles first as this problem seems to manifest itself after about 20,000 to 30,000 miles of driving.
General Motors is also fixing this issue on a large stockpile of brand new cars ready to be dispatched to dealers. Indian car owners needn’t worry as this recall is concerned mainly with GM cars in the US, Canada and Mexico.
