Our friends over at GoaOnWheels report that the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga could get a limited edition anniversary edition to commemorate the MPV’s 1st year presence in the Indian car market. The Ertiga has been a runaway success for Maruti Suzuki right from word go. Apart from selling the Ertiga in India, Maruti also exports this MPV to South East Asia. The Ertiga is a strong seller in Indonesia as well. Coming to the anniversary version of the Ertiga that could be launched soon(Remember, the Ertiga was launched in India during April, last year), here are the features that the MPV could bring to the table.
Indonesia spec 2013 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV (The anniversary edition could get chrome treatment similar to the Ertiga in the above pic)
* Silver finish chrome grille
* Chrome housings for the fog lamps
* Art leather seat covers
* Anniversary badging
* Navigation with GPS
* Bluetooth support for the music system
The Ertiga is a well priced MPV that undercuts the market leader, the Toyota Innova. However, the Ertiga is also smaller than the Innova when it comes to the external and internal dimensions. This has meant that the Innova has managed to retain its set of buyers although the Ertiga did make an impact initially by selling more than the Innova for a few months. Now though, the Innova has reclaimed its top spot in the Indian MPV market. The Ertiga is sold with petrol and turbo diesel engine options while a 5 speed manual gearbox is standard across all variants.
In international markets, Suzuki offers the Ertiga’s petrol variant with a 4 speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the MPV’s compact dimensions mean that it is a preferred set of wheels for many hatchback buyers who’re looking at a bigger people mover. This is one reason why many car buyers in India have gravitated towards the Ertiga instead of choosing similarly priced entry level C-Segment sedans. In the coming months, India will see the launch of two more MPVs in the form of the Chevrolet Enjoy and the Ashok Leyland Stile.
