Scoop: Tata Aria MPV
Tata Aria Front
Tata Motors showcased their forthcoming MPV, the Aria at this years Auto Expo at Delhi. Uptill now, the Toyota Innova ruled the MPV market. Mahindra, with its Xylo, has now entered this segment. The Xylo may have the toys and interior space that the Innova has to offer but, aesthetically it is all messed up. While the Innova despite being an MPV looks handsome, the Xylo isn’t actually a looker.

Tata Aria Rear
Tata Motors, with the Aria, seem to have got the point. The Aria looks good, even though it might seem to be following the design philosophy led by the Vista. Well, to be frank, the Vista is quite a modern and contemporary package. The Aria does have the looks and the presence of the Innova. In fact, the Aria looks far bigger compared to the Innova. The huge dimensions mean there is enough space for atleast 7 adults.

Tata Aria Side
There is no official word yet about the engine options, seating capacity or prices for the Aria. These pictures are of a prototype caught testing in Pune on 30th of May 2010. On the whole, I am pretty sure that the Aria will give a tough fight to the Innova once it is launched.

Tushar,
Great catch mate. At the 2010 Auto Expo, the bulbousness of the Aria wasn’t apparent with the enclosed space. But boy, the rear end looks terrible. Butt left gone bad, I guess. Tata should leave designing to Pinifarina.
Cheers,
Jay
Hello,
This car was initially named as INDIVA and was released in Geneva AutoEXPO in year 2000-01. And the original car named Aria was actually an exquisite beauty the look kind of Beetle which again was released along with INDIVA.Sometime around I will post the photos too.
Cheers
You are right. For some reason Tata motors christened the mpv as Aria. Actually, Aria was a two door sports car.
