Customers can now have a car tweaked by none other than Sebastien Vettel. It was the Red Bull driver who decided how the car should look, feel and handle. Even the 186 mph top speed was what Vettel wanted the car to achieve and hence the Infiniti FX Vettel edition does reach the magical figure of 300 kph. Vettel has been hard at work tuning the aerodynamics of the SUV too. After all, aerodynamic efficiency is what differentiates his Red Bull F1 car from the rest of the crowd.
The aerodynamic aides on the car include the rear spoiler which should be helpful while cornering, pushing the wheels against the tarmac aiding grip. Grip is what the SUV would need since the engine produces 420 horsepower from a V8 that lurks under the sculpted hood. The standard car produces 390 bhp and the spike in power was achieved by remapping the ECU and fitting a new exhaust system. The SUV can do the dash from 0-100 kph in 5.6 sec which is 0.2 sec faster than the standard version but no where close to what similar high-end SUVs manage.

This is mainly due to the high gearing which allows the SUV to reach 300 kph. The interior is a blend of Alcantara and carbon fibre. This wonder material might have been among the must haves for Sebastien Vettel as this is what his work place is after all made of. Meanwhile, here is what Vettel had to say about the new SUV-
“This is the first road car I have helped develop. Usually I have hundreds of engineers building one car just for me. So it is fantastic for me to contribute to the design of a car. The result is an Infiniti I am very proud to have my name on. It is all I hoped for: 300km/h, plenty of downforce – and I can still fit my mountain bike in the back. Plus it is totally exclusive – and as an Infiniti driver, that’s important.”
