Skoda Laura to get a facelift next month: We are betting on the Laura RS’ launch!
Skoda India has just talked about it’s D-segment sedan, the Skoda Laura, getting a facelift next month, and we’re wondering what it could be. Visually, the Skoda Laura Sedan still looks quite up to date and with no sightings of the Laura Sedan Facelift over the past few months, we’re thinking that the changes could be minor to say the least. The interiors though may get a spruce up to make the Laura feel a little fresher than the 2 plus years’ vintage the car is in India.
On the engines front too, there isn’t too much action happening internationally with the Laura Sedan, except of course a more frugal petrol option in the form of the 1.2 Liter TSI engine or even the 1.4 Liter TSI engine. These engines could potentially be a great option for the petrol Laura as sales of the 1.8 TSI engined model have been tepid at best, with Skoda India having to resort to chunky discounts to push Skoda Laura Petrols off showroom shelves.
In markets internationally, the Skoda Laura Petrol Sedan gets the 1.2 Liter TSI engine producing about 105 Bhp. This should give the Laura decent fuel economy and thus perhaps improve sales. On the other hand, there is another engine, the 1.4 Liter TSI producing 122 Bhp, which is another frugal option for these times of high petrol prices, which is making owning petrol cars a luxury more than anything else. However, we see things a lot more differently.
The Laura facelift Skoda India has been talking about in all probability is the Skoda Laura RS, which incidentally was all set to hit Indian shores in September, this year. Meanwhile, here’s Team ICB’s report of the Skoda Laura RS arriving into India in September a full month ago. So, we’re leaning on the Laura RS. Watch out for it!
