Skoda “officially” launches the Yeti 4X2 in India; Priced at 13.46 and 14.32 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi!

We broke the news before anyone else yesterday, a full day before Skoda’s official press release of the Yeti 4X2 comes along and lands into ICB’s inbox. While we’ve already done a story on the Yeti 4X2 yesterday, we’ll use this post to bring out the minutiae between the two wheel drive and four wheel drive variants of the Yeti. The Skoda Yeti’s 4X2 variant will be available in two variants, Active and Ambition.

Both variants get a 2 Liter TDI engine that has been detuned to produce 110 Bhp and 250 Nm. This common rail, turbo diesel engine also powers the Skoda Laura’s base diesel version. While the Active variant of the Yeti is available only in 4X2 guise, the Ambition variant of the Yeti is available even in 4X4 guise. In the Yeti Ambition 4X4 variant, you get the more powerful 2 Liter TDI engine which produces 140 Bhp and 320 Nm.

While the less powerful 2 Liter TDI engine might sound like a big compromise, Skoda India is highlighting the stellar fue economy of this engine, which at an ARAI certified 17.72 Kmpl might be the outstanding trait of this engine. The Skoda Yeti 4X2 Active is priced at INR 13.46 Lakhs while the Ambition version sits a lakh higher at INR 14.32 Lakhs, both prices reflecting ex-showroom Delhi prices.

The gearbox of the Yeti 4X2 will come with one cog lesser, with a five speed manual transmission while the 4X4 version features the 6 speed tranny with a Haldex clutch equipped 4 wheel drive system. Kerb weight of the Yeti 4X2 comes down by almost 100 kilos when compared to the 4X4 variant even as the 4X2 version has a smaller fuel tank of 55 liters as compared to the 60 liter fuel tank in the Yeti 4X4.
