Skoda Yeti 4X2 launched in India at a price of INR 13.35 Lakhs, ex-showroom Maharashtra!
In a remarkable coincidence, we just carried a story of Skoda India launching the Skoda Yeti 4X2 very soon in India, and here they are, with the Skoda Yeti 4X2 for a price of INR 13.35 Lakhs, ex-showroom Maharashtra and at this price, the Skoda Yeti 4X2 becomes the entry level model of the Yeti line up in India. Launched as a model mainly to spur slow sales, the Yeti 4X2 will target those folks for whom off roading is more like traversing the potholes of the moonscapes Indian roads have become rather than any real mud plugging or dune bashing.
The Skoda Yeti 4X2 will retain the 110 Bhp-250 Nm 2 liter TDI turbo diesel engine that also does duty in another Skoda car, namely the Laura. This reasonably powerful yet frugal diesel engine will give the Skoda Yeti better fuel economy than ever before as the dumping of the four wheel drive system has resulted in the Yeti becoming lighter by close to a full hundred kilos as the Skoda Yeti 4X2 weighs 1,445 kilos, down from the 1,543 kilos of the Yeti 4X4. The 2 Liter TDI engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission, which is another factor contributing to the lower price of the Yeti 4X2.
In comparison, the Yeti 4X4 uses a much more powerful 140 Bhp-320 Nm 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine mated to a 6 speed manual transmission that powers the 4X4 system equipped with a Haldex clutch. On the features front, the Skoda Yeti 4X2 comes loaded to the brim with safety features like ABS, Airbags and traction control. Key features like hill hold, electronic differential locks and hill descent control are missing as they come only on the 4X4 version. Similarly, quite a few features have been deleted by Skoda India on the Yeti 4X2 to arrive at the lower price tag, which Skoda hopes will make the Yeti more competitive.
Here is theĀ list of missing features on the Yeti 4X2, which will be available only in the base “Active” and “Ambition” variants:
* Side airbags
* Electronic Stability Program
* Hill Hold Control
* Curtain airbags at front and rear
* Parktronic system
* Hill Descent Control
* Electronic Differential Lock
* Parking sensors
* Lumbar support
* Rain sensing wipers
* In-vogue touch screen audio system with LCD screen
* Steering mounted audio controls.
* Automatic climate control
* Multi functional display
Coming to the price at which Skoda has managed to position the Active and Ambition variants of the Yeti 4X2, the Crossover in Active variant is a full 2 Lakh rupees cheaper than the Elegance variant while the Ambition variant is 1 Lakh rupees cheaper than the Elegance variant. While this price cut does manage to position the Yeti 4X2 much lower than before, it might still not be enough to get sales going as the Skoda Yeti 4X2 is a heavily stripped car that might not strike a chord with value conscious car buyers who might still swing in favor of the Mahindra XUV500 Crossover, which even after a price bump that will happen sooner than later, will represent much higher value than the Yeti. Even so, the Yeti’s sales can be expected to improve due to the lower cost variants and this perhaps will satisfy Skoda India.

Skoda Yeti 4X2 for a price of INR 13.35 Lakhs, ex-showroom does not make any sense. Skoda company should realize that Mahindra XUV500 is luanch at a VFM price 10.8 Lakh ex-showroom which is a very serious competition for all SUV;s.
They should have launched 4X2 for a price of INR 11.99 Lakhs ex-showroom to make some good Sales.
I still think Volumes will be low for Skoda Yeti.
Last heard Skoda Yeti Ambition was available for 14.5 Lakh Exshowroom after discounts.
Something common happenig here AGAIN , from Skoda. But i think they had their time to get numbers with the yeit, but the pricing failed their chance. The new price also wont do any good …
