The Stile MPV is the Nissan Evalia in Ashok Leyland clothes!
While Nissan pulled the wraps off the Evalia MPV at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, its partner Ashok Leyland, who will manufacture this MPV, also previewed how its iteration of the Evalia will look. The Ashok Leyland MPV will be called the Stile and will be sold independently from the Evalia through Ashok Leyland dealerships. The Stile looks much more upmarket and stylish than the boring looking Evalia MPV and this is quite a surprise as Ashok Leyland is primarily a commercial vehicle maker while Nissan is a mainly a passenger car maker.
Other details remain unknown at the moment while we know for a fact that the Stile will use the same engine as the Evalia. The engine in question is a 1.5 Liter K9K diesel engine that is also found in the likes of the Nissan Micra, the Nissan Sunny sedan, the Renault Pulse hatchback and the Renault Fluence sedan, albeit in different states of tune. This engine is expected to either deliver 85 Bhp and 200 Nm or 105 Bhp and 240 Nm, depending on what Ashok Leyland chooses to offer the Indian MPV buyer.
The Stile will be offered in both diesel and CNG variants. The Stile won’t just be a passenger carrier as the Nissan Evalia, but will also do duty as a cargo van. Therefore, Ashok Leyland is all set to unravel multiple applications for the Stile MPV in the coming days, utilizing the practicality of this MPV’s sliding doors and low floor. In line with this, Ashok Leyland is even calling the Stile a MFV: Multi Functional Vehicle, rather than the conventional MPV.
The interiors will feature a dual tone treatment to make living in the MPV more attractive for owners and passengers over a period of time. The Stile MFV is lined up for launch in the middle of the year. Ashok Leyland will first launch the passenger variant and later branch out into the goods carrier category. Pricing and variant details will be revealed at the time of the launch.
