Subaru + Cosworth = Hot, Hotter and now, the HOTTEST HATCH!
A teaser provided by Subaru
Heard of Litchfield? They are a company based in the U.K who have been, for almost over 10 years, importing various cars into the U.K. Of these, most notable has the Japanese version of the Subaru Impreza. They used to get together with Cosworth U.K to tune these mad machines to suit the needs of the populace.
So, Subaru in February decided that they themselves can extend their already ongoing collaboration with Cosworth, who tune their EJ 20 / EJ 25 engine components by bringing out the COSWORTH SUBARU IMPREZA STI CS 400.
To be out on sale in June, this animal is supposed to have 395bhp at 5,750rpm, sufficient to dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.7 seconds. Now that is the same as a Ferrari F430 and The Zonda! Compare it to 296bhp at 6,000rpm for the standard Impreza WRX STI and you realize that this puts it on par in the supercar range of the Italians and the Germans. Obviously, it will be All wheel Drive and this is going to make it one of the fastest Hatches today.

Subaru also says that they have equipped the CS400 with a bespoke brake package, with six-pot calipers and 355mm discs at the front, in partnership with AP Racing, the leaders in the field. AP racing is also the supplier of clutch plates and braking solutions for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and also many of the supercar brands.

Perhaps the only disappointing fact is that Subaru will be making only a limited 75 of these and this makes it exclusive as hell! Well, surely this baby is going to make few eyeballs turn and give many a man wet dreams but the question is whether it’s going to be as good as the Litchfield motor sports package. They too are incidentally bringing out a new one, the MY09 TYPE 25 model which can be expected to have similar specs considering their MKII Type 25 with the options has the same specs as this CS400.

All said and done, this is going to be one hell of a cracker considering that these are two of the big names in the business and the lucky 75 owners are going to swell with pride owning them and the rest of us will just marvel at seeing the tag of Subaru and Cosworth together and wished we were sitting behind the wheel of that car rather than behind the car.
