Suzuki to debut S-Cross compact crossover concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show: Ford EcoSport challenger?
We’re weeks away from the hotly anticipated 2012 Paris Motor Show, where a bevy of four wheeled beauties will compete for the petrolhead’s attention along with beauties of the two legged kind. Paris will also host a range of new cars and concepts. One such interesting concept from Suzuki will be the S-Cross compact crossover, which will be unveiled at the motor show. The S-Cross compact crossover will sit in the C-segment, which means that the car could very well be a replacement for the SX4 crossover that Suzuki sells in many markets, also known as the Fiat Sedici.
Incidentally, the SX4 is also available as a sedan in the Indian car market. Coming to the S-Cross crossover from Suzuki, this product, it seems has plenty of potential given that the demand for such a vehicle remains quite high. Ford has just launched the EcoSport in Brazil and will launch the crossover in India, come early 2013. A slew of automaker ranging from Volkswagen to General Motors, from Hyundai to Honda, are all planning to enter the compact crossover/SUV space in the coming years. Such a vehicle’s high ground clearance and compact dimensions make it an ideal foil to take both good and bad roads into its stride.
From the initial sketch of the S-Cross concept, the crossover looks quite butch and should be quite a looker if Suzuki does indeed manage to retain the lines that appear on the sketch. Apart from the sketch, the only other detail that Suzuki has revealed in the media release it put out earlier today is the headlamp of the S-Cross concept and a natty looking daytime running light. In fact, this the second such product that Suzuki will be showcasing this year, if the XA-Alpha compact SUV cncept, showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo is taken into consideration.
Given that the S-Cross could replace the SX4/Sedici, expect both petrol and diesel engined options, with forced induction being a prime possibility even for the petrol mill. The diesel engine will be an important addition with markets like India and Europe showingbig favor for the sticky fuel. Other details about the Suzuki S-Cross crossover should become more clear closer to its unveiling at Paris, when we might even get a timeframe for the launch of this exciting nee product from the Japanese automaker. Watch this space.

It will be the engine of Ford Ecosport that is creating a great rivalry to all other models in the segment..But if Nissan can introduce this crossover model at a lower price it might be attractive….
