Suzuki showcases Ertiga Crossover and Sport Concepts at the 2012 Indonesian International Motor Show

Japanese automaker Suzuki has showcased two interesting variants in the form of the Ertiga Crossover and the Sport Concepts at the 2012 Indonesian International Motor Show. The Ertiga is a compact MPV that was first launched in the Indian car market earlier this year, with the MPV now being available in Indonesia as well. The MPV has been a runaway success at the hustings in India, with the Ertiga managing to usurp the Toyota Innova’s position as the best selling MPV in the Indian MPV market. Coming to the concept versions of the Ertiga, both the models showcased are jazzed up variants of the MPV.

Apart from the cosmetic once over, nothing else changes on the show special Ertiga, understandably so given that the Ertiga is less than a year old at the marketplace. In the Ertiga Crossover Concept, Suzuki has given the MPV more aggressive looks in the form of many visual changes up front. The Ertiga Crossover Concept gets a different Air Dam, LED day time running lights, bumper inserts, and taller alloy wheels to make for a more aggressive stance. The Ertiga Sport concept, on the other hand gets a lowered body, a carbon fiber sticker on the front bumper, chunky alloy wheels, re-profiled rear bumper, a roof spoiler and twin exhaust tips at the rear.

Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 1.4 Liter K-Series petrol engine producing 94 Bhp-130 Nm continues to do duty. Unlike in India, the Indonesian market only gets a petrol engined version of the Ertiga given that diesel engined cars don’t have a big market in the island nation. In India though, the Ertiga is available with the 1.3 Liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine which gets a variable geometry turbocharger. The Indian version of the Ertiga Diesel outsells the petrol variant by many times to one given the high demand for diesel engines cars in India, more so in the MPV segment.
