Tata Indica Vista EV to be launched in Europe?
The folks at cartradeindia are suggesting an April 2011 launch for the Tata Indica Vista EV. First showcased at the Geneva Motor Show last year, the Indica Vista EV has been in the pipeline for a while now and was believed to be launched sometime in the year 2011. Now, Tata Motors might launch the car for the first time in Europe. U.K, Denmark and Norway will be the first countries where the Vista EV will be sold.
With the Indian Government taking a positive approach to promote alternate energy vehicles in the country, auto makers will now scramble to launch hybrid and electric products in India. Mahindra too, is thinking about the Reva NXR. For the moment, Tata Motors might launch the Vista EV in April, 2011 but only in Europe that is.
The electric motor of the Vista produces 75 bhp and can do a speed of 128 kph. The Vista EV can go 200 kms on a single charge and it takes 8 hours for the battery to recharge. Costs were an issue when it was first showcased in 2010. Now with the Government announcing subsidies the final price tag might be lower than what was thought earlier i.e. INR 5-6 lakh, we might be able to buy one in the near future.
