Tata Motors Limited have plenty of launches lined up this festive season. In what will begin with the Tata Aria Crossover MPV on October 11th, is set to be followed by the refreshed Tata Safari which will get yet another mid life or last gasp makeover. These launches will finally culminate with the Tata Indica Vista 1.4 Petrol with 90 Bhp on tap. With that much power, finally the Tata Indica Vista petrol will get enough shove to match the competition and folks complaining about the Indica Vista Petrol’s 1.2 liter petrol engine being underpowered for the car will now nothing to complain about, or so Tata hopes.

Coming to the engine in question, Tata has picked it up from the Fiat stable. Yes, the petrol engine displacing 1,368cc good for 90 Bhp and 116 Nm of torque is a straight lift off from the Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 and this engine comes from the much acclaimed FIRE family of Fiat Petrols. So, you have a robust tried and tested engine that also is sufficiently powerful to haul the one tonne plus hatchback. All said, more power for the Indica Vista Petrol is definitely a good step from Tata Motors Limited. Not to be left behind, the real seller in the Vista series, the Vista Quadrajet Diesel will also go one up to get the 1.3 liter VGT Multijet engine.

This iconic Fiat Multijet diesel engine which so far featured a fixed geometry turbo in 75 Bhp/190 Nm guise will get a boost in power and torque to 90 Bhp and 200 Nm, all due to the addition of the variable geometry turbo and a few other changes to the engine tune. What we’d also like is firmed up suspension that does a bit for handling too apart from only the good ride comfort that Indica Vista has been offering thus far. If that happens, the Tata Indica Vista will truly surprise you this festive season by just not going fast on the straights but also by being a hoot to hustle around corners. Expect a premium of INR 30,000 to 60,000 for the more powerful petrol and diesel versions of the Tata Indica Vista.

TATA cars are getting better and better. I would be really thrilled when they start using JLR expertise in their cars and become truly international cars on Indian Roads.
