Tata Motors Limited is planning to showcase a slew of new products at the Auto Expo 2010. We bring you the top Tata Cars to watch out at the 2010 Auto Expo in this special feature at ICB.
So, sit back and enjoy the list we’ve put together for you.
The Tata Nano was launched in 2008 to critical acclaim across the world. So, it will certainly grace the Tata stall at the 2010 Auto Expo. This time around, the Nano will proudly be accompanied with a diesel and an electric hybrid variant.
Also, there is a strong possibility of the European version of the Nano being displayed too.
Tata Motors Limited had a dream run with their best selling MUV, the Tata Sumo which was first launched as a family vehicle. Over time, cabbies took to it like fish to water and ensured that Tata Motors laughed all the way to the bank. Meanwhile, Toyota came along with the Qualis which quickly dethroned the Sumo as the best selling MUV. Ever since, Tata Motors has always been playing catch up with variants of the Sumo and more recently the Sumo Grande. Now, the turf has further changed with the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo doing great numbers in the high end MUV segment.
Tata has a huge task at hand to wrest back the crown from Toyota and for just this, it has a homegrown challenger called the Tata Indicruz which could sit just above the Innova and open up an all new market for crossover vehicles that can double up as a great family vehicle. The much awaited Tata Indicruz or the Xover will be launched at the 2010 Auto Expo. This launch is one of the most anticipated launches at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo. It also is a very important launch for Tata Motors, with analysts even comparing it to the launch of the Nano. Watch this space for more buzz on this showstopper during the 2010 Auto Expo.
The Tata Indica was Tata Motors’ first fully indigenously developed passenger car and this time around, Tata will give the venerable Indica a shot in the arm by equipping it with an electric motor. The Indica EV has already been doing the testing rounds across the world and is expected to hit the Indian local market as early as the end of 2010. A juicy fact about the Indica EV is that it has a Honda Civic eating nought to hundred time of 8 seconds. N
ow, that is some acceleration. We only hope that Tata manages to retain this blistering performance in the production Indica EVs. Watch out for the Indica EV at the Auto Expo 2010.
The big, burly Tata Safari started out as an entry level SUV, unfortunately plagued by little niggles that made it the punching bag of critics. Over time, Tata Motors managed to iron out all the little gremlins to make the Tata Safari a very refined, classy and a truly affordable entry level SUV. The Tata Safari 2.2Dicor manages very decent monthly sales numbers and even has a loyal fan following.
That said, the Safari never really managed to do the numbers it’s arch rival, the Mahindra Scorpio managed. The powers to be at Tata Motors know this and have thus formulated a strategy to tackle the might of the Scorpio. It is for this fact precisely that Tata Motors is all set to launch a redesigned Safari that promises to come with a lot of goodies to reclaim it’s crown as the affordable SUV of choice. And a juicy tidbit for the all new Safari is that, it could feature an all new engine to pummel competition into submission.
Tata will also showcase concepts that will become production realities in the near future, like the Tata Prima Saloon. The Tata Prima saloon is a genuine D segment car that will compete will the likes of the Civics and Corollas of the auto world. Also, the Tata Motors stall will feature a half ton pick up called the Penguin. The Penguin is based on the Tata Ace platform.
To add some glitter to the already glittering line up, Tata Motors will bring in the Jaguar-Land Rover combine to the 2010 Auto Expo. Expect a few mouth watering Jags and terrain conquering Land Rovers to be showcased at the show. Stay glued to this space for plenty of news, views and reviews from the front lines of the 2010 Auto Expo.
