The Chevrolet Spark Electric might take two whole years to materialize on Indian roads. But before that, we could have our very own homeboy, Tata Motors, giving us an affordable electric runabout. First seen at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in the Indian Nano guise, the Tata Nano Electric now sports the Euro face paint. When Tata Motors does foray into Europe with the Nano Europa, it plans to do so with a petrol, a diesel and an electric version. The recently concluded 2010 Madrid Motor show played host to the Tata Nano Europa EV.

The Nano Europa will go 160 Kms before it’s battery stack will run out of juice and while it gets there, you can reach a top speed of 100 kph and manage a nought to sixty timing of about 10 seconds. Now, the range and performance figures are very respectable indeed, especially for a electric city runabout like the Nano Europa.

Now, considering the fact that most folks will never hit the highway on their Tata Nanos in India, we think that the Tata Nano EV might just be the perfect city runabout for Indian roads. Knowing Tata Motors, they might be thinking the same too. Stick around.

Interested to buy Nano diesel version, but have a doubt about the safety features of the car during a head-on collision or from any side. Kindly declare the result of the crash-test done in the factory. Air bags are required immediately.
Bumper made out of fibre-glass should be made more hardy.

Engine cooling system has to improve. If this problem persist then burning of the nano car will continue. Best option is to change the design of the car- Bring the engine in the front and take back stepni at the back- this will give an additional natural cooling when the car is on move and during head on accidents engine will safeguard to some extent.
