The 2013 Skoda Octavia will get 8 turbocharged engine options
Skoda’s latest big bet, the 2013 MQB platform based Octavia, will offer plenty of choice for the car buyer. The 2013 Octavia will have no less than 8 turbocharged engine options lined up. That all the engines are turbocharged gives a glimpse of the future. Owing to tightening emission norms across most parts of the developed world and the higher demand on fuel efficiency, car makers have begun embracing turbochargers in a big way. Skoda is one such car maker and the 2013 Octavia’s engine line up reflects just that. The 2013 Octavia gets 4 turbo petrol and 4 turbo diesel engines.
The car will get a new series of turbo petrol engines that also get direct injection technology. All the turbo petrol engines that the Octavia will get belongs to Volkswagen’s EA211 line of powerplants. The EA211 series of turbo petrol engines are said to weigh lesser than the previous EA111 series. The entry level turbo petrol engines consist of a 1.2 Liter TSI unit and a GreenTec version of the 1.2 Liter TSI engine that delivers more power and torque while cutting down on fuel consumption. A 1.4 Liter TSI will power the middle order of the variant line while the top end 2013 Octavias will get the 1.8 Liter TSI motor.

1.4 Liter TSI GreenTec Engine: 138 Bhp-250 Nm, 5.3l/100km and CO2 emissions of 121 grams/Km.
1.8 Liter TSI GreenTec Engine: 177 Bhp-250 Nm, 5.7l/100km and CO2 emissions of 131 grams/Km.
1.6 Liter TDI Turbo Diesel Engine: 89 Bhp-250 Nm, 4.1l/100km and CO2 emissions of 109 grams/Km.
1.6 Liter GreenTec TDI Turbo Diesel Engine: 103 Bhp-250 Nm, 3.9l/100km and CO2 emissions of 99 grams/Km.
1.6 Liter GreenLine TDI Turbo Diesel Engine: 109 Bhp-250 Nm, 3.4l/100km and CO2 emissions of 89 grams/Km.
2.0 Liter GreenTec TDI Turbo Diesel Engine: 148 Bhp-320 Nm, 4.5l/100km and CO2 emissions of 119 grams/Km.
