It would be an understatement to say that the Ford EcoSport compact crossover is one of the most hotly anticipated SUVs that Indian car buyers are looking forward to in 2013. Even as Ford India continues to keep mum on when exactly the EcoSport would be launched in India, the car maker is testing the crossover day in and day out. The crossover is quite unique in the fact that it will be offered with a bright yellow paint job and this is what we’re going to focus on today, for a Team-Bhpian has caught the EcoSport compact crossover in various hues including red and yellow.
Cars with bright paint jobs look bigger than ones with dull or say, understated paint jobs. Naturally, the yellow color EcoSport will stand out when compared to the rest of the EcoSports in say black of grey. The spyshots are proof of the big street presence that the shade of yellow endows the EcoSport with. Now, this whole color business isn’t limited to the EcoSport alone, rather it applies to all other cars. So, if you’re looking for a car with good street presence, it’d do you good to go for a brighter shade. On the other hand, if you want to lie low, a car painted in a duller shade should work fine.
Meanwhile, the EcoSport will come with a range of colors: Yellow, Red, Kinetic Blue, Sea Grey, Black and White are the six colors in which the EcoSport will come with. EcoSport test mules painted in all these colors have been spotted across various locations in India. The EcoSport crossover shares its platform with the new Fiesta and is expected to be available initially with a front wheel drive option. Given that Ford will target the urban car buyer with the EcoSport, this approach does make a lot of sense given that the EcoSport is expected to see more of speed breakers and potholes rather than sand dunes or snowed out roads.
Also, the EcoSport will share many parts with the new Fiesta and this includes the engines and the interiors. However Ford India is said to have increased the amount of localization on the EcoSport, allowing for a competitive price tag. Ford India will offer the EcoSport with petrol and diesel engine options. While the 5 speed manual gearbox will be standard, petrol variants of the EcoSport are also expected to be offered with a 6 speed PowerShift dual clutch automatic gearbox.
