Top end 2012 Skoda Yeti Elegance 4X4 version selling at a big cash discount of INR 2.2 Lakhs
Skoda India is offering a massive INR 2.2 lakh discount on the top end Elegance variant of the Skoda Yeti 4X4 crossover. This discount is on models whose kits have been manufactured in 2011, but whose assembly has taken place in 2012. Incidentally, the Yeti is assembled in India through completely knocked down(CKD) kits imported into the country. The Yeti 4X4, in Elegance trim comes loaded with equipment and at the discounted price, is a terrific buy. At Delhi, the discount means that the Yeti 4X4 will be available at an on-road price of INR 17 lakhs, a steal for the kind of equipment that this SUV packs in.
2012 Skoda Yeti 4X4 SUV
The SUV is diesel powered, with the 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine doing duty under the hood. This engine outputs a peak power of 140 Bhp with peak torque rated at 320 Nm. The 2 Liter TDI diesel engine is a staple across Skoda’s car range, with the Laura, Yeti and Superb, all playing host to this torquey and frugal unit. Also, many Volkswagen and Audi cars also feature this engine. The transmission on the top end Yeti is a six speed manual unit. The gearbox transmits power and torque to all four wheels of the Yeti through a Haldex clutch, which is said to improve response quite dramatically.
The Yeti is also available in a cut price Active and Ambition variants, that also offer another engine option in the form of a detuned variant of the 2 Liter TDI diesel engine outputting 110 Bhp-250 Nm. Coming back to the top end Elegance Trim, here is the list of prominent features that the SUV comes with,

2012 Skoda Yeti 4X4 SUV
The Skoda Yeti is a very capable off roader with a range of dedicated off roading bits coupled to a decent ground clearance of 180mm. However, the crossover’s on road behavior is also very sharp with good ride and handling. That said, the 5 seater SUV being assembled through the CKD route means that the cost is much higher than 7 seater rivals like say the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Aria, not to mention the Tata Safaris and the Mahindra Scorpios of the world. This has resulted in the Yeti being a slow seller although Skoda has tried to make amends with the cut price Active and Ambition 4X2 variants.
