A bunch of Chevrolet Beat Diesels are doing the rounds in Pune with absolute alacrity(Read, with no camouflage). So much so, that snapping images of the Chevrolet Beat Diesel has become so very easy for our roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion. And this time around, our ace snapper even managed to take at the peek at the hatchback’s interiors when the car stopped somewhere near Pimpri-Chinchwad, off Pune. By the looks of it, the Chevrolet Beat Diesel’s interiors remain bog standard with no visible changes.

Any which way, the twin pod dashboard layout with the motorcycle-like instrument cluster of the Beat was one standout of the car, ever since it’s launch in 2010. Also, our ace snapper reports that the Chevrolet Beat Diesel did not sound noisy or unrefined as a pre-production variant did a while ago, in our earlier scoop. This in fact, is a good thing as the Beat Diesel happens to be a three cylinder diesel 900cc+ engine derived from the 1.3 Liter Fiat Multijet Diesel engine.

The engine is expected to be very frugal with a high fuel economy figure being the car’s strong points. The turbocharged common rail diesel engine might produce about 57 Bhp of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque. These figures might not be anything to gloat over but keeping up with the Beat Diesel was a tough task for our very accomplished car chaser, who is no slouch on the roads. Based on first appearances, it looks like the performance could be more than acceptable.

GM India’s range of diesel cars like the Optra Magnum and the Chevrolet Captiva are very refined and we hope that the Beat Diesel also manages to be reasonably refined. That however, isn’t what the USP of the Chevrolet Beat Diesel will be. Touted to infuse new life into the sagging Beat brand in India, the Beat Diesel is expected to bring the much needed volumes to GM India as it could be one of the cheapest entry level diesel hatchbacks in the country.
