Prebook your Volkswagen Polo 1.6 now and wait for it’s launch in October 2010!

If you’re married, have a couple of kids, sold your motorcycle off calling it impractical and unsafe five years back, the slow poke Volkswagen Polo 1.2 is just the car for you. You can sit in, revel in the Teutonic build and interior quality and continue being smug about it all. Why will you care, especially if the bloke ext you pulls up and off quicker than you at every traffic signal but still is right next you at the next signal? For the rest of us, who live to drive rather than drive to live, here is the latest hot hatch that you and I can buy and not be guilty about.

Ladies and gentlemen, time to look up and say hello, for, the Volkswagen Polo 1.6 can be pre-booked, starting now. You need to get in touch with the nearest Volkswagen India dealer and fork about about INR 50,000 for pre booking the Polo 1.6. The 1.6 liter petrol, four pot engine, which in my opinion is a god send for a classy looking S-L-O-W car will finally mean that folks who want some action on the road finally have a hot hatch in the Volkswagen Polo 1.6, which now officially replaces the original hot hatch: the now erstwhile Fiat Palio 1.6.

Last week, Volkswagen dealers in Bangalore told us that pre bookings were already on for the Polo 1.6, prompting us to even speculate that the Polo 1.6 could share the launch platform with the Volkswagen Vento. However, that was not to be. Volkswagen India will officially launch the Polo 1.6 sometime in October this year and going by this, you should be able to celebrate Diwali by driving home in the Volkswagen Polo 1.6. Sweet, isn’t it.

Wait, there’s some more. The Volkswagen Polo 1.6 will not cost significantly higher than the top of the line Volkswagen Polo 1.2 Highline. In Gandhiback terms, you will be paying about INR 50,000 more that the Polo 1.2 for the bigger engine and this, is definitively the sweetest part of the entire deal.
