The 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan gets a facelift!
Like most of the other Volkswagens that have gone into the chop shop to feature uniform family faces, the Tiguan also seems to have done just that. While Volkswagen wanted to debut the restyled Tiguan at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, a leak somewhere along the chain has led to the brochure of the 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan getting out before schedule. As is evident from the leaked brochure, the 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan, like the new Jetta and Passat combine looks pretty understated and traditional SUV-like and this might actually go well with most folks who still love butch over a hatchback like stance that the newer crop of crossovers feature.
And why are we discussing all of this here? We are, as Volkswagen India might bring the 2012 Tiguan to India with a 1.8 TSi petrol and 2.0 TDI diesel engines as it’s product portfolio shows a gaping hole in the 20 Lakh crossover/SUV segment where the likes of BMW X1 and the Toyota Fortuner are doing very brisk business. That said, Volkswagen may have to re-work the Tiguan’s pricing such that the CUV(compact crossover vehicle) manages to take on the similarly sized Skoda Yeti and the much larger Tata Aria, which currently is losing out due to the lack of brand value the Tata badge has at prices north of INR 10 Lakhs. If this does happen, we might just have another good option for buyers looking for a sub 20 Lakh crossover.
