Volkswagen Vento TDI Highline variant gets a bunch of new features at a price of INR 9.77 Lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi!

In what seems to be a clear Skoda Rapid effect, Volkswagen Vento has given the top end, highline variant of the Vento a bunch of new features, in a bid to widen the gap between the Vento and the soon-to-be launched Rapid. The Volkswagen Vento TDI Highline variant now gets four new features that were previously missing on the top of the line diesel Vento.

Through these newly introduced features, Volkswagen will hope to ensure that the Rapid Diesel does not end up cannibalizing sales of the Vento, particularly so as the Rapid comes in three variants with a wider feature spread across variant offering the car buyer more choice.

The four new features on the Volkswagen Vento TDI Highline are,

* Steering mounted audio controls

* RCD 310 music system with USB support

* 4 speakers

* Park distance control, which basically are parking sensors

Volkswagen has borrowed the RCD 310 music system from the Jetta, making it a premium feature on the Vento TDI Highline. Diesel car buyers in India have always got the short end of the stick when it comes to features as the higher cost of diesel engines means that manufacturers have cut down on features to price the diesel engined variants more competitively. With this addition of features to the Vento TDI, Volkswagen seems to be bucking this trend to a certain extent.

However, it would be quite interesting to see whether the Vento Sedan will be able to maintain its numbers once the Skoda Rapid Sedan starts selling in the Indian market as parking sensors and steering mounted controls are the only features missing on the top end Rapid, which is expected to undercut the Vento by at least 20,000-30,000 rupees. The Volkswagen Vento TDI Highline with the new features is priced at INR 977,500, ex-showroom Delhi.

    This is BAD VW, why do customers who buy have to face the brunt. If you can afford it now, then why not at the launch. Benefiting you as well the customers who have bought. Shame on you for such tack ticks.

    VW should recall all Vento Highline cars and upgrade it with new features.
