Force Motors will be flexing its muscles come January 5th when the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo opens its doors for the media. The company that primarily makes commercial vehicles will showcase the CNG version of the popular mini bus Traveller. Force Motors also plans to launch a hybrid variant by the year end. This was revealed by Force Motors’ Managing Director Prasan Firodia.
Now, the year 2011 has been very important for the company as it launched their first passenger SUV Force One in the market. The SUV which is priced at Rs 10.65 lakh was developed by engineers from Force Motors, Daimler and with some help from a bunch professionals from the United Kingdom. The Force One is basically a Guangdong Foday Explorer III which has been tweaked for Indian conditions. The engine has been sourced from Daimler while the handling was perfected in Europe.
That said, the hybrid variant of the Traveller is also being developed with the help of a firm from the UK. The Traveller uses a parallel hybrid that utilizes solar energy as well as regenerative exhaust system, sounds pretty ambitious, that. Other products that Force Motors has lined-up for India include a nine-seat van which is being developed with the help of Daimler. The new van is expected to make its debut in 2013.
The Traveller is expected to go into production by year end at the Pithampur factory in Madhya Pradesh. A new facility with a capacity of 24,000 units per annum is also being erected at Pithampur which will be used to manufacture the MPV that the company plans to launch in India in the coming year.
