Hindustan Winner Passenger Van CNG scooped, in an ICB Exclusive!
We’ll kick things off with some trivia for you. The Hindustan Winner pick up truck is essentially a Chinese pick up truck that was built by Hindustan Motors in collaboration with Chinese utility vehicle and tractor maker, Shandong Shifeng. The Winner, though a tepid seller has been instrumental in allowing the car maker to gain a foothold in high growth areas like the commercial mini pick up truck segment. So, that is about the Hindustan Winner pick up truck that competes with the likes of the bestseller Tata Ace and the Mahindra Maxximo.
Our roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion is back with yet another scoop. This time, we have a clutch of spy shots of the CNG powered Hindustan Winner Passenger Van, doing the testing rounds before its commercial launch. Now, while the Winner is a mini pick up truck that Hindustan Motors borrowed from the Chinese and put their name on after some re-engineering for India, the passenger van variant of the Winner is something that Hindustan Motors have developed themselves. So, full credit to Hindustan Motors on this one.
With the CNG option to boot, the Winner Passenger Van could be a good seller as both the Tata Ace Magic and the Mahindra Maxximo are yet to receive CNG options. Hindustan Motors already has the Winner scuttling about with a CNG engined option. The CNG powered Winner mini pick up uses the tried and tested 1,800cc Isuzu engine that have been staple powerplants on Ambassadors cars for many years now. The 1.8 Liter CNG engine on the Winner produces 35.5 Bhp of peak power and 73 Nm of peak torque. Watch this space for a render of the Hindustan Winner CNG passenger van.
