Mahindra Maxximo Passenger Cab Scooped: Mahindra’s Tata Ace Magic Rival!
After the Mahindra Gio left us exasperated as to how unimaginatively ugly designs Mahindra’s product designers could actually come up with, the Mahindra Maxximo turned out to be one Mahindra that actually looks passable even though it is a humble goods hauler. The good folks at CarWale have managed to spot a Mahindra Maxximo in passenger cab guise somewhere on the Mumbai Pune Highway.
The Maxximo Passenger Cab will “officially” carry seven people and unofficially you know how many people the Indian cabbies can actually manage to squeeze in. This apart, all the people crammed into the Maxximo Passenger Cab will be hauled by a 900cc, 25 Bhp-55 Nm CRDe diesel engine. We’ve been hearing of gearbox trouble on this particular engine from a lot of Maxximo owners and one of our sources even told us that Mahindra is doing it’s best to sort out the gearbox issues on top priority.
We hope that really happens soon as the commercial vehicle market, being extremely unforgiving on low reliability, will simply opt for the Tata Magic, which though not tech packed has a solid 16 Bhp-38 Nm IDI Diesel engine that is very reliable as many Tata Ace owners will testify to. The killer punch from Mahindra could be the pricing, which in the whereabouts of INR 3 Lakh would make the Mahindra Maxximo Passenger Cab a very attractive proposition for people movers, particularly in semi urban and rural India.
