US Foray: Mahindra to go it alone
Mahindra Scorpio Pick Up
While there has been some talk lately, about Mahindra tying up with diesel engine alliance partner, Navistar USA, for manufacturing the Scorpio Pick Up in the United states, Mahindra has come out in the open to deny any such plans. Reiterating the aforesaid point, Dr Pawan Goenka, the President of Mahindra Auto Business was heard saying this to Hindu-Business line.
We are fully ready with the product (customised for the US market) and even the US manufacturing facility. We are waiting for some regulatory approvals to launch Scorpio in the US in this quarter.
This means that Mahindra will go it alone in the US market, one that it is betting big upon. Meanwhile, the Mahindra Scorpio Pick Up will be the first Mahindra commercial road going product to hit the American market. This, will be in addition to the range of tractors that Mahindra has been selling from it’s American manufacturing facilities.
