Mercedes Benz City Bus to take on the Volvos in India
Mercedes Benz City Bus
The Swedes finally have some competition, German competition. After making a fairly successful foray into the luxury inter state bus segment, Mercedes Benz is upping the ante and will soon launch low floor city buses shortly. While Daimler Benz India has remained tight lipped about the pricing and the feature spec of the low floor Mercedes Benz city buses, Dr Wilfried Aulbur, Daimler India’s managing director has assured us that the buses will be priced competitively and will be similarly spec’ed.
That sounds pretty promising as more competition is always good for the customer as well as the passengers who will use these comfortable buses for their daily commute. We hope that Mercedes Benz makes sure that these city buses are fitted with speed governors, unlike many Volvo city buses, which are driven extremely rashly as they are much more powerful and better handling, especially when compared to the homegrown competition like Tata and Ashok Leyland buses.

Took a ride in BMTC Mercedes 335E last week from ITPL to Domlur. Been going by Volvo to various places in Bangalore in the past 2 years+ and it scores over Merc many a times due to:
a) Volvo offers greater and smooter suspension
b) Merc jerks very badly when it starts
c) Merc offers flat foor seating (more seats) but offers less standing space
d) Merc is more noisier almost like Marco Polo
e) Surprising to hear creaking noise in a week old Merc bus
Seemed to me like a chinese fake of Original Merc!!
i took a ride last week on the 356c mercedes.but i found it htat the ride quality was almost the same with the marcopolos which i consider is inferior to the volvos and its interior is not up to the standards of a volvo and i think the technology provided is mot up to the mark. the engine is just a tad powerful htan a marcopolo.so as a regular commuter for 3.5 years of a volvo i feel it is not worth hte price rangeof 65-78 lac and that too not a made in egypt bus which i think is inferior in manufacturing practices and like chinese quality.
we request buses please send more details.prices, bus photo, esat number and fuel consmption per klm.we traivel for the long distance in very hot wether. many thanks
