We show you Force Motors’ Traveller based products, much before the Auto Expo official display, in an ICB Exclusive!

Force Motors will showcase the 4X4 version of their flagship Force One SUV and a fully loaded luxury variant with all the bells and whistles at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. But the real bread and butter of Force Motors lies with its commercial vehicles division. The Force Traveller, previously known as the Tempo Traveller is a big seller for Force Motors and arguably the most recognizable face of the brand in India. Force Motors will also unveil variants of the Traveller van, at the Auto Expo and our roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion has gone the extra mile to ensure that ICB readers will get to see the new Force Travelers first.

Force wide body and wide trackĀ  26 seater Mini Bus:

Ready to be showcased at the Auto Expo, this bus will take on the likes of the Tata Starbus and the similar offerings from Mahindra. Both the front end and the rear of the bus will feature revised styling. The bus will have a wide body and wide track design with a longer, extended chassis to increase the number of seats on offer.

Consequently, the total number of seats will increase by almost double, to go up to 26 units. This bus has six tyres, two up front and four at the rear. This bus will be powered by the OM611 common rail diesel engine that Force manufactures under license from Daimler.

Our reliable sources close to this project tell us that CNG variants of this bus are under development, targeted mainly at cities like Delhi, where CNG is mandatory for commercial vehicles. Notably, these buses will not feature split hatch doors at the rear and will make do with a single door at front for passengers. The rear windshield will double up as an emergency exit. The diesel variant of this bus will be launched in April, 2012.

Force regular bodied 26 seater Luxury Mini Bus:

Like its name suggests, Force Motors will also offer a high end luxury mini bus based on the Traveler. This mini bus will feature the same styling treatment as that of the wide bodied 26 seater, but on a narrow/regular body design. This luxury mini bus variant will be capable of seating 10-18 persons and will get air conditioning.

The mini bus seating will have a recline function depending on the variant and is expected to be luxuriously appointed. The same OM611 common rail diesel engine will power this mini bus even as a CNG variant in under development. The name and pricing of this bus will be announced at the Auto Expo.

Force Motors may also unveil a CNG variant of the Traveller, likely to be named as the Traveller Hybrid. This variant will have dual fuel functionality, that is, it will be able to run on both diesel and CNG modes, depending on the mode that the driver chooses. This move from Force Motors comes even as Tata is working on a CNG based 407 passenger carrier, of which we’ll carry images very soon. Watch this space.
