Tata Ace mini pick up truck all set to be assembled in Indonesia; Passenger cars to follow!

The Tata Ace mini pick up truck was a pioneering product from Tata Motors as it created an all new segment. Along with that, the Ace went on to become the most successful mini pick up truck in the country even as rivals lined up their own offerings for the Indian market. Last heard, even German truckmaker Daimler is said to be considering a mini pick up truck as it sees plenty of potential in this rapidly growing market, which is outpacing the growth of the Indian car industry quite comprehensively. After having conquered the Indian market, the Tata Ace is all set to be unleashed in Indonesia.

Tata already exports the Ace to many countries across the world and has been assembling the mini pick up truck in Thailand, another key South East Asian market. Now, Tata will begin assembling the Ace in Indonesia. The kits will be shipped from India through the completely knocked down(CKD) route, after which they will be assembled at an assembly unit in Thailand. Going forward, Tata Motors might also set up a full scale manufacturing unit in Thailand if the demand for the Ace justifies such a move by the car and utility vehicle major.

As Indonesia is a similar market to that of India with crowded urban areas, the Tata Ace mini pick up truck will fit right in as its small footprint makes it an ideal choice for congested market places and city alleys. Also in the offing are Tata passenger car assemblies at Indonesia. Incidentally, the Tata Nano could be the next model that could follow the Ace for the Indonesian market with Tata looking at a contract manufacturer to put together the world most inexpensive car.
