Land Rover Freelander 2 Launched In India at a price of Rs 33 Lakhs

Land Rover today launched the highly acclaimed Freelander 2 in India. The Freelander 2 joins the acclaimed Discovery 4, the quintessential sports tourer, the Range Rover Sport and the ultimate luxury 4×4, the Range Rover, all of which were launched earlier in India in June this year.

The Freelander 2 has redefined the compact premium 4×4 segment. It delivers outstanding on-road performance as well as class-leading off-road ability, the hallmark of Land Rovers. A dynamic design, purposeful stance, smart and spacious interior, and an abundance of advanced technologies complete the package.

The Freelander 2 is powered by a 2.2 litre common rail turbodiesel engine. Yamaha India Launches VMAX Bike at 20 Lakh Price Tag

Toyota Eyes 150 Auto Dealerships In India By 2010

World’s largest car maker Toyota today said it is looking to expand its dealership network in the country with plans to have a total of 150 outlets by 2010.

The Japanese auto maker, which is present in India through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group, today inaugurated the 90th outlet of ‘Espirit Toyota’ here in the city.

“We started with 27 outlets in India in 2000 and we plan to expand our network to 150 dealerships by 2010,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said in a statement. Read more

Cars & Two-Wheelers Sales Zoom In India This August 2009

India’s car and two-wheeler market saw a robust growth in sales in August 2009.

Maruti Suzuki posted a 42 per cent growth to sell 84,808 units, Hyundai Motor India sold 49,521 cars, an 11 per cent increase over the same month last year.

“What really helped sales were festivals such as Ganesh Chathurthi in western India, Janmashtami in the North and Onam in the South. This time, the Alto did exceptionally well selling 22,000 units. All the new models also did well. The newly launched Estilo clocked 3,000 units while the A-Star sold 3,500 units in the domestic market. The Ritz notched up 5,500 units,” said Mr Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki. Read more
