The German carmaker Volkswagen launched their luxury and most expensive sedan 8th Gen Passat in India today at the price of INR 29.99lakhs ex-showroom for the Comfortline variant and 32.99 lakhs for the Highline variant.
The 8th gen VW Passat is based on the company’s newly introduced MQB platform and shares the same platform with recently launched VW Tiguan. Skoda Superb, Skoda Kodiaq are also based on the same platform.
Powering the new 8th Gen Passat is an EA288 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing maximum power of 177 BHP and max torque is rated at 350 Nm. All this is mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission. Combined ARAI fuel economy is rated at 17.6 Km/L.
On the inside, the new Passat gets an all-new cabin with a long list of features.

The Passat does not get many creases on the body and yet, it looks extremely premium. The new Passat gets 79mm longer wheelbase than the previous generation model while the overall length of the vehicle has been reduced by 2mm. This gives a very sporty look to the vehicle. The new Passat is also 12mm wider and 14mm lower, giving it a much better stance. The Passat has better space management than the outgoing version. All these figures sum up to the overall dimensions of 8th Gen Passat to 4,767 mm in length 1832 mm in width and 1,456 mm in height. While the wheelbase measures at 2,786 mm.
The car will take on the rivals like Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in India.
