Honda CB Dazzler Bike Launch in Delhi

2010 Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler Bike Launch in Delhi

The Honda CB Twister Dazzler is here finally and Team ICB was there at The Grand, New Delhi to catch the launch.

The CEO of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, Shinji Aoyama, was there to pull the wraps of the Honda Dazzler, which of course was something that we knew long ago.

So, we weren’t too chuffed to see the Dazzler come out from beneath the wraps. What chuffed us however was the dazzle that the Dazzler exuded. This was the motorcycle that Honda should have launched long-long ago, right alongside the Yamaha FZ16 but then, we aren’t the ones behind the scenes at Honda.

Nevertheless Honda has finally brought in a refreshing looking motorcycle, it’s third consecutive good looker, after the CB Stunner and the CB Twister. The styling, a subjective matter though, of the Honda Dazzler is taut and clean, and has all the right creases in the right places, except perhaps the headlight, whose shroud looks a little too bulbous for our liking. We would have any day preferred a naked headlamp now that we’ve been spoilt silly by the brute muscle looks of the Yamaha FZ16′s front end. On the whole, the Dazzler’s looks exudes a freshness that will appeal to most of buyers looking for a sporty commuter.

Moving on to the engine, the same tried and tested Unicorn’s 149.1cc four stroke engine gets a hotter cam profile to up the power quotient to 14.2 Bhp. Along with that the redline too moves to 9500 rpm from the Unicorn’s more sedate 8500 rpm. Now, if you’re thinking of a crazy performance boost for the added 1000 revolutions or so, it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Honda has gone down on the wheel diameters to 17 inchers from 18 inchers and this crucially alters the gearing. So in essence, the Honda Dazzler will only go as fast as the Honda Unicorn but the difference will squarely be at the higher rate at which it gets there. In essence, acceleration goes up while retaining the Unicorn’s top whack of 112 Kph.

Now, this promises to make the Dazzler a lively package that will be a bunch of fun in the twisties considering the fact that it sits lower and shares the Unicorn’s terrific handling and monoshock suspension. Instrumentation too looks the part on the Honda Dazzler with a racy looking display that has a digital speedo and an analog tacho. Other bits and pieces of new spec equipment include mirrors that have gone in for a makeover, a maintenance free battery that is soon becoming de facto amongst the new gen motorcycles and an air filter that looks like a straight import from a CBR. T

he Honda Dazzler at a price of INR 62900 sits bang in FZ16 territory and can it take the fight up to the street fighting Yamaha, you’ll have to wait for our verdict in a shootout that we’ll try to put together shortly for you.

    Ganesh,

The Dazzler will not come with the 180cc engine anytime soon. On road price is about INR 70,000. Top speed is about 110 Kph. Mileage will be in the whereabouts of 55-60 KMPL.

    Cheers,

    Jay
