Days ago, we carried images of Bajaj Auto teasing the 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 650R on it’s website indicating that a launch is just around the corner. Now, new buzz seems to be emerging about the 2011 Ninja 650R’s launch which could happen as soon as the next few weeks.

Or so say the folks at AutoCarIndia according to whom the 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 650R’s launch is just weeks away. While the exact date of the launch still remains unknown, this piece of news could prompt many prospective Hyosung GT650R owners to hold on to their monies for just a while more.

Meanwhile the 2011 Ninja 650R will feature a 650cc parallel twin engine that pumps out about 72 Bhp good enough for a top speed of over 200 kph with enough refinement to boot. In the past, Bajaj has indicated a very competitive price for the Ninja 650R and also a launch in the next 2-3 months.

Going by Bajaj’s history of well priced products barring very few exceptions, the Ninja 650R if priced slightly above the Hyosung GT650R at about INR 5-5.5 Lakhs could ensure very brisk sales considering the fact that the Pune Hyosung showroom alone has managed to garner over 200 bookings for the Hyosung GT 650R.

There’s a fat chance that Bajaj will indeed price the 2011 Kawasaki Ninja at about INR 5.5 Lakhs as the Ninja sells for about INR 40-50,000 more than the Hyosung GT650R in markets abroad and considering the fact that both the GT650R and the Ninja 650R will be CKDs, it should be quite possible that their prices in India also show similar patterns to their prices abroad.

Therefore a market for middleweight sportsbikes does exist in India and it is only a matter of time before the well heeled Indian motorcyclist has a bevy of choices at a price point of about 6 Lakhs to choose from. May the good times roll on!
