2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200NS bookings open at Pune; On road price INR 94,280
Bajaj Auto has finally begun accepting bookings for the 2012 Pulsar 200 NS at its home market, Pune. The Pulsar 200 NS is priced at a superbly competitive price of INR 94,280, which reflects the on road price at Pune. This translates to an ex-showroom price of INR 85,273, which once again means that Bajaj has played the value card with its flagship motorcycle. Dealers at Pune have begun accepting Pulsar 200 NS bookings and deliveries are expected to begin from the 15th of June, 2012. The motorcycle will be launched in other parts of the country in a phased manner.
Test rides of the 2012 Pulsar 200 NS is expected to begin from next week. The 2012 Pulsar 200 NS represents a huge leap for Bajaj Auto, coming a decade after the first Pulsars saw the light of the day way back in 2001. The Pulsar 200 N marks many firsts for the Indian two wheeler maker, which is also the third largest two wheeler maker by volumes, in the world. The Pulsar 200 NS comes with a liquid cooled 200cc single cylinder engine fed by a carburetor. The motorcycle features a SOHC layout with four valves and three spark plugs, marking another advance in combustion technology by Bajaj.
The Tri-spark technology is a world’s first and Bajaj has even applied for a patent for this unique application of technology in a single cylinder motorcycle. Transmission is by means of a 6 speed manual gearbox that the Pulsar shares with the KTM Duke 200. In fact, the bottom end of the Pulsar 200 NS and the KTM Duke 200 are similar. The Pulsar 200 NS is also the first Bajaj motorcycle to feature a monoshock rear suspension with a gas charged canister. The 200cc engine produces a peak power of 23.5 PS at 9,500 rpm while peak torque comes in at 18.3 Nm at 8,000 rpm.
Weighing 145 kilograms, the Pulsar 200 NS will hit a top speed of 136 Kph while the standstill to 100 Kph sprint will be dispatched in a quick 9.8 seconds. The 0-60 Kph run is even more impressive at 3.6 seconds, making the 200 NS one of the quickest small capacity motorcycles in India. Bajaj claims an astounding 58 Kmpl fuel economy at a constant speed of 55 Kph, with this excellent economy being attributed to the tri-spark technology. The 200 NS is also anticipated to be the sweetest handling Pulsar ever with a band new twin spar steel frame.
