* From what we can decipher from the images we have with us, it is clear that the new 2012 Pulsar series will sit below the KTM Duke 200 in terms of positioning in the Indian market.

* The engine is a liquid cooled unit.

* The new Pulsars will feature an underbody exhaust just like the KTM Duke 200.

* The Pulsar 135′s tail section or something very similar to that could be used on the new Pulsars/

* The tank could retain the characteristic design that have become a trademark of the Pulsar series of motorcycles.

* Air scoops/shrouds on the tank could make it to the final design and could feature a design similar to what is found on the Pulsar 135.

* The Pulsar 135′s turn indicators seem to be retained on the new Pulsars.

* Rear view mirrors remain similar to the existing Pulsar series.

* Gauging by the size of the engine, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a 125cc/150cc engine variant, becoming the new entry level Pulsar, replacing the current Pulsar 135, which incidentally was the first Bajaj Pulsar to feature a 4 valve head.

* Underscoring the above assertion is the absence of a rear disc brake on the test bikes. So, there’s a fat chance that one of the motorcycles being spotted could be a Pulsar 125/150.

* The trademark twin LED strips albeit in what looks like a revamped design are retained on the new Pulsars.

* The new Pulsars will feature a monoshock suspension layout at the rear.

* The front though, will use telescopic downtube suspension, ostensibly to keep costs low for a cracker of a price tag.

* The new Pulsar will retain the exposed o-ring based drive chain, one of the first Indian motorcycles to kick start the trend, which is now becoming commonplace.

* The front disc brake exhibits a new design, similar to what is found on the KTM Duke 200.

* The headlight most likely features a projector set up with the traditional Pulsar running lamps retained.

* Alloy wheel design sees a style change.

Closing thoughts: By the looks of it, the new 2012 Pulsar, from a design perspective will be more evolutionary than revolutionary and this is actually a good thing, as the Pulsar has always been a sports commuter motorcycle of the masses, appealing to the young and old alike. That said, improvements to the motorcycle are manyfold, right from the engine to the suspension. All this, allied to a value-for-money price tag, a factor which has always been a USP of the Pulsar series of motorcycles could ensure that the Japanese motorcycle brigade can only go “Hunto”, this time around louder than ever before. And by the way, here’s a full gallery of 2012 Pulsar images that we’ve lined up for you. You don’t want to miss that!
