2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R to be available next year in India, at a slightly higher price tag!

Bajaj Auto pulled off a coup of sorts earlier this year when it brought in the Kawasaki Ninja 650R to India for a stunner of a price tag of INR 4.57 Lakhs. At this price, the 650cc Kwacker was nearly INR 40,000 cheaper than the only real competition, the Hyosung GT650R and needless to say, the Ninja 650R has outsold the GT650R comprehensively. Recently, we carried a report of the 2012 version of the Kawasaki Ninja 650R being unveiled.

This very motorcycle will be available for Indian performance motorcycle enthusiasts very soon, but with a small price bump of around INR 20,000 to justify the newly added features on the 2012 Ninja 650R. Before we come to the features, we’ve got to briefly mention the styling changes n the 2012 Ninja 650R. The motorcycle now has a more raked out front end that makes it look sharper than the current Ninja 650R.

This apart, the 2012 Ninja 650R also has a new tank, a new front fairing, a new seat and a new tail section to differentiate it comprehensively from the current model. The 2012 Ninja 650R also has an adjustable windscreen as a new feature. The new twin spar frame is much more stiffer, making for a better cornering experience on the 2012 Ninja 650R while also adding to the visual appeal of the motorcycle. Kawasaki has retained the same 650cc parallel twin engine that operates on four valves per cylinder and a DOHC layout.

While the engine’s peak power and torque outputs remain unchanged at 72 Bhp and 60.6 Nm respectively, Kawasaki engineers have ensured that the engine’s power and torque is more usable than ever before by reworking the engine’s low end and mid range power and torque outputs. So, expect the 2012 Ninja 650R to be more fun to ride than before. Expect to pay anywhere between INR 20,00-40,000 more than the current Ninja 650R for the 2012 model. Bajaj will assemble the 2012 Ninja 650R at the India Kawasaki Motor assembly unit at the Chakan plant early next year. Watch this space.
