The all new Bajaj Pulsar will be launched in the middle of 2012, in an ICB Exclusive!

Team ICB has been bringing you exclusive updates about the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar including the first ever spyshots that revealed quite a bit about the brand new Bajaj flagship motorcycle. Today, our roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion is back, and back with news about the all new Bajaj Pulsar. The 2012 Bajaj Pulsar will be launched only in the middle of 2012 and not earlier, as many of the speculations floating about on the interweb would like you to believe. While we don’t have an exact date, May 2012 would be our bet. Also, the new Bajaj Pulsar will be positioned well below the KTM Duke 200 in terms of pricing.

Incidentally, the KTM Duke 200 will be launched on the 24th of January, 2012 and will be sold only through Bajaj Probiking showrooms which are now being rebranded as KTM probiking showrooms with KTM’s signature orange livery. The Duke 200 is expected to be priced between 1.2-1.4 lakh rupees and bookings will start as soon as the price announcement gets underway on the 24th. Coming back to the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar, the new range will borrow plenty of bits from the KTM Duke 200, including the bottom half of the engine.

The top half of the engine though is expected to be a SOHC 4 valve layout instead of a DOHC layout that the Duke 200 features. Also, the Pulsar will use the more common telescopic front suspension although the rear will have a monoshock unit. Like the Duke 200, the 2012 Pulsar will have an underbody exhaust, a move that could be for better mass centralization for sharper handling. The new Pulsar will retain certain characteristic bits that have come to become a part of the Pulsar’s identity like the pilot lights up front and the twin LED strips making for the tail lamps.
