Bajaj to dump the Bajaj moniker from all it’s vehicles

This had to happen sooner than later, as Bajaj Auto was one company which was clueless about product differentiation, especially when you consider sub brands like the Pulsar/Discover monikers, that Bajaj Auto has been milking, almost indiscriminately for the past couple of years. The numerous Bajaj Pulsar variants, often compared to shampoo brands like Hindustan Unilever’s shampoo, Clinic All Clears’ various sachets available from INR 0.50- INR 2.50, has been one factor why prospective buyers stayed away from the Pulsar brand and instead patronized Hero Honda, Honda, TVS and Yamaha.

A shame really, for, all of the motorcycles in the Bajaj Pulsar series are product that are brilliant value-for-money. Better late than later though, Bajaj Auto is finally contemplating dumping the very moniker that made it the big behemoth, that it is today. In the future, you could be riding a Pulsar or a Discover or just an RE Autorickshaw. What will be missing is the Bajaj moniker that has accompanied these brands for so long that the man, alright, woman on the street, will have difficulty contemplating one without.

Plausibly so, Bajaj Auto will have a stiff task in front of itself as it tries to re-brand itself and it’s allied businesses from scratch. On how effective this new strategy would be, your guess is as good as ours.
