Bajaj Pulsar 350 lined up for 2013, says Rajiv Bajaj!

On the sidelines of the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS launch at Mumbai, Rajiv Bajaj made another big announcement that is sure to gladden many a biker’s heart in India. Rajiv Bajaj has officially confirmed the Bajaj Pulsar 350 for a launch in 2013. The Pulsar 350, just like the Pulsar 200 NS will be based on the KTM Duke. Incidentally, KTM has made its plans very clear that it is going to launch a 350cc variant of the Duke come 2013. So, the Pulsar 350 seems a very logical step by Bajaj considering the fact that the new Pulsar series share plenty of technology from KTM, especially in the engine department.

The Pulsar 350, like the just unveiled 2012 Pulsar 200 NS, will sit below the KTM Duke 350 both in terms of price as well as performance. Like the Pulsar 200 NS, the Pulsar 350 is expected to arrive with the tri-spark technology, which involves using three spark plugs for optimum combustion. Bajaj Auto has applied for a patent for the tri-spark technology as it is the first motorcycle maker in the world to use three spark plugs on a single cylinder engine.

The Pulsar 350 will also feature a liquid cooled engine along with 4 valves. Incidentally, the Pulsar 200 NS shares the bottom end with the Duke 200, including the 6 speed gearbox. So, expect the same to happen with the Pulsar 350 and the Duke 350 as well. The Pulsar 350 will be the flagship variant of the Pulsar series from 2013, pushing the 2012 Pulsar 200 NS off its perch. Other details about the Bajaj Pulsar 350 remains unknown at the moment.

We also know that KTM is planning a fully faired 350cc motorcycle for 2014 based on the Moto3 race concept. We’re wondering whether Bajaj too would come out with a fully faired Pulsar in 2014 or beyond. Judging by what we’ve just witnessed today, that possibility seems very real.  Watch this space!

Thats a great news, i have owned a Pulsar 150 and Avenger 180(current). I have become so used to with the cruiser styling, i cant think of driving any other bike. I love harley, triumph and other cruiser bike brands but they are way out of my budget. Before Avenger 200cc was launched i was expecting a major upgrade from Bajaj (some 350cc+ cruiser), but they launched a 200cc bike(Just 20cc more), i was disappointed. With the 350cc pulsar coming next year, I hope they install the same heart in Avenger as well as they have been doing it so far. Add more weight to it(175-185kg), rear disc brakes, 22+ltr tank, loud and heavy exhaust note, better suspension(esp. for pot holes, gravel and wet surface), even wider tyres, decent mileage and keep the price competitive(under 1.5 lakh). That will make it a complete beast and it will be a huge success, i am sure there are many people in India who are starving for powerful cruiser bikes but there aren’t many options to choose from. Please Bajaj make it happen.
