By 2013 end, Polaris to launch a high end Victory cruiser motorcycle in India

Polaris, an American company well known for its range of snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles also owns two motorcycle brands in the form of Victory Motorcycles and Indian Motorcycles. After entering India last year through the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, Polaris now sells a range of all terrain vehicles across the country. Sensing the big growth in the Indian lifestyle motorcycle segment currently dominated by the likes of Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson, Polaris is all set to launch its first high end motorcycle in India by the end of this year.

While details about the cruiser motorcycle that Polaris plans to launch in India by 2013 end remains unknown, Mr Pankaj Dubey, Polaris India’s Managing Director, has confirmed that the first motorcycle that Polaris will launch in India will be from the Victory range of cruiser motorcycles. Expect the Victory Cruiser Motorcycle to compete with the likes of the cruisers sold by Harley Davidson, Honda, Hyosung and Suzuki. The Victory Cruiser that Polaris will launch in India will arrive through the completely built unit(CBU) route. So, a price tag well in excess of INR 10 lakhs is to be expected given that the least priced Victory motorcycle sells for over 6 lakhs in the United States. (CBU imports from the USA result in prices more than doubling)

2013 Victory Cory Ness Vision Tour Cruiser Motorcycle

All motorcycles in Victory’s range are powered by 1,731cc V-Twin four stroke engines. These air and oil cooled engines are mated to six speed manual gearboxes. Power and torque is transmitted to the rear wheel through a carbon fiber reinforced belt drives. A modicum of modernity on this V-Twin engine involves the usage of self adjusting cam chains, hydraulic lifters, electronic fuel injection and an SOHC/4 valves per cylinder layout.
