Harley Davidson launches 2 new motorcycles for 2012, the Sportster SeventyTwo and Softtail Slim!
Harley Davidson has unveiled two new motorcycles for 2012, the Sportster SeventyTwo and the Softtail Slim. Both motorcycles are slimmed down, back to the basic versions of existing Harley Davidson motorcycles. The SeventyTwo belongs to the Sportster line and is named after the legendary Route 72 in California and features a street bob design, with minimalism being the key design highlight. The Softtail Slim, like its name suggests is a Harley Davidson softtail put on a slimming diet, with cleaner lines and lesser weight.
The 2012 Sportster SeventyTwo features a 1,200cc air cooled V-Twin engine that is the staple of all the full size Sportsters in Harley Davidson’s range. The motorcycle weighs a chunky 252 kilograms, which is actually light weight by Harley standards. The SeventyTwo features fuel injection, is belt driven and comes with a five speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, here are the standout features of the Sportsster SeventyTwo,
* Candy Big Red Flake paint finish
* Classic “peanut” fuel tank
* Ape hanger handlebars
* Narrow whitewall tyres
The 2012 Softtail Slim features a 1,690cc twin cam, air cooled V-Twin engine. To bring it up to the times, Harley Davidson has mated this motor with fuel injection, a balancer shaft and a six speed manual gearbox. The Softtail Slim, though slimmer than many Harleys, still weighs a considerable 305 Kilograms. Currently, Harley Davidson India has no plans of bringing both the SeventyTwo as well as th Softtail Slim to India. Meanwhile, here are the standout features of the 2012 Softtail Slim,
* Hollywood style flat handlebar
* Slash cut front and rear fender
* Side mounted number plate
* Narrow rear tyre
