Harley Davidson India has pulled the wraps of it’s latest Sportster yet, the 2011 Harley Davidson Forty Eight. The Forty Eight is the latest in Harley’s Sportster cruiser range and features the tried and tested 1,200 Harley Davidson V-Twin engine. But the engine isn’t the reason why the Forty Eight is different from the other Sportsters in the Harley family.

Distinguished mainly by it’s low seat and retro styling, which is an eclectic mix of cafe racer and street bobber, the Forty Eight is targeted at younger riders. For starters, you have a massive front tyre which makes it looks very distinctive from the other Harleys in town although the styling still looks no more radical than the recently launched entry level Sportsters, the Iron 883 and the SuperLow 883.

Under slung mirrors and a side mounted rear number plate makes the Forty Eight distinctive, although like all Harleys, it looks like, well a Harley. So, no big surprises here. What might really limit riding range is the small 8 liter tank which means that the forty Eight really isn’t targeted at long distance riding.

A shame really, for, the Harley Sportster 1,200cc evolution engine obviously is well suited for the long and flat highways rather than pottering around in the city. Any which ways, Harley Davidson has priced the Forty Eight at INR 8,50,000, Ex-Showroom Delhi and will be available at all Harley Davidson India showrooms.
