Harley Davidson has been making waves across India with very unique events called the Harley Davidson boot camps. Now, many more Indians will get to touch and feel a Harley at the upcoming 2010 Auto Expo. Here is what Harley Davidson India will line up for you.

Harley Davidson Sportster

Harley Davidson Sportster 883

Harley Davidson Sportster 883

This is the entry level Harley Davidson, the motorcycle which definitiely is the one budding HD enthusiasts would buy to enter the hallowed Harley Davidson clanship. Displacing 883cc, the Sportster is the perfect Harley to learn the ropes of touring on. It is lighter and nimbler than the bigger Harley Daidson roadsters which makes it a perfect entry level Harley that costs the least too. While the Sportster’s 883cc air cooled V-Twin may appear dimunitive compared to it’s bigger siblings, enthusiasts can pep it up with a host of performance mods ranging from a simple jet/muffler kit to a full blown Screamin Eagle big bore kit.  In India, the Sportster will sell for about INR 7 Lakh.

Harley Davidson Dyna Series

Harley Davidson Street Bob

Harley Davidson Street Bob

This is a motorcycle series inspired by the street custom trend with Harley owners chopping parts up to make their HDs lighter. Harley Davidson quickly took notice of this and launched the Street Bob model in their Dyna Glide series. The Street Bob comes with a massive air cooled 1573cc V-Twin that pumps out enough power to satiate most HD enthusiasts. Of course, Screaming Eagle hop up kits are available to bump up the power to insane levels. All the power will be transmitted to the rear wheel ia a belt drive made of carbon fiber. This seemingly indestructible belt drive will be fed power by a 6 speed transmission. To sum it up, pure minimalism plus the undiluted Harley Daidson experience is what the Street Bob brings to the table.

Here is the Harley that looks straight out of the bollywoodsy Harley fare we’ve been used to. All models in the Soft Tail series  have chrome and plenty of it. Everything about the Soft Tail series is big and the motorcycles are designed to thunder across long, unending highways. The SoftTails share the engine and transmission with the DynaGlide series. Anyone going in for the SoftTail series will in all probability customize it to suit his/her personality. such is the wide range of customization possible with the SoftTails, from leather panniers to heated hand grips.  Meanwhile, the legendary Fat Boy too belongs to the SoftTail series.

Harley Davidson Touring Range

Harley Davidson Electra Glide

If the SoftTails are big, the motorcycles encompassing the HD touring range are nothing short of MASSIVE. The Road King and the Electra Glide are the  couple of models Harley will bring to India. Both these motorcycles are designed to be all out tourers with the Electra Glide even featuring a huge couch seat for the pillion. The air cooled 1573cc Twin engine is shared with the Dyna and SoftTail platform.  Big pannier boxes further reinforce the touring spirit with goodies like CD players and ABS thrown in. These beasts are happiest munching the miles by the hundreds.

Harley Davidson V-Rod

Harley Davidson V-Rod

From theV -Twin Racing Street Custom family, the V-Rod is the most Un-Harley like Harley Davidson ever built. While dyed in the wool Harley enthusiasts cried murderous sacrilege when Harley Daidson introduced the liquid cooled, Porshe developed sixty degree V-Twin, this model represents the veritable future of Harley Davidson. Featuring a brute of a powerplant that manages to deliver both power and the traditional potato potato exhaust sound with equal ease. Displacing 1130cc, the liquid cooled OHC 60 degree twin pumps out 125 galloping horses at 9000 rpm.

Styled like a true blue dragster with  low slung stance, the V-Rod is pure American muscle with bombproof German reliability. And, the V-Rod will willingly scrape a peg or two as well. Since when did Harleys start scraping pegs you may ask. They did so when a big American motorcycle company called Harley Davidson scuttled off through the Autobahns to a certain Porsche in Germany. Both the  V-Rod and the Night Rod will make it to Indian shores shortly. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse of these mighty brutes at the upcoming 2010 Auto Expo. The individual prices too will be revealed at the expo.  See you there!
