Hero Honda Motors makes the largest selling motorcycles in India and even the world. Pawan Munjal, the Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Honda made a game changing announcement at the ongoing 2010 Indian Auto Expo. He said that Hero Honda is contemplating an ultra low cost motorcycle to drive the company’s future growth while empowering more Indians by putting them onto the two wheeler bandwagon.
While he declined to comment on the price point at which the ultra low cost motorcycle will be made, he said that Hero Honda is in talk with it’s partner, Honda Motorcycle Co, to jointly develop the Tata Nano of motorcycles.
We expect the low cost motorcycle to be priced somewhere around the INR 15,000 mark. If anyone capable of doing it, it is the undisputed two wheeler market leader Hero Honda. Watch this space for more developments on this game changing piece of news.
