Hero MotoCorp launches 3 new products, the Passion X-Pro 110, Ignitor 125 and the Maestro 110 scooter!
Giving the Indian two wheeler segment is first taste of badge engineering, the world’s largest motorcycle maker by volume, Hero MotoCorp pulled the wraps of three products today. The Passion X-Pro, the Ignitor 125 and the Maestro 110 scooter are the three new products that Hero has chosen to kick start the new year 2012 with and all products use Honda engines, albeit in slightly tweaked form.
The Hero Passion X-Pro marks Hero’s entry into the 110cc motorcycle segment. The Passion X-Pro uses a 110cc four stroke engine that is a lift off from the Honda CB Twister 110. The vertically inclined engine also marks the first Hero economuter motorcycle to feature a vertically inclined engine layout. Power and torque figures are similar to that of the Honda Twister CB110 at 9 Bhp of peak power and 9 Nm of peak torque. The styling of the Passion X-Pro stays true to the original Passion’s design language.
The other big launch by Hero MotoCorp is the Ignitor 125, which is essentially a rebadged Honda CB Stunner 125, with the same 125cc four stroke engine producing 11 PS at 8000 rpm. The 5 speed gearbox has been retained. Apart from the graphics and name signage, there is little to differentiate the Ignitor from the Stunner. With that, badge engineering seems to be gaining big ground in the Indian automotive scene these days.
Coming to the other rebadged two wheeler from scooter, the Hero Maestro is the Honda Aviator in Hero clothes. A 110cc engine powers the Maestro, and this engine also does duty in the likes of the Honda Activa 110 and the Honda Aviator 110. With these three launches, Hero MotoCorp has shown aggressive intent to retain its market share by introducing a slew of products that will give the prospective Hero customer a huge variety of two wheelers to choose from. Stay glued for analysis that we’ll carry later in the day.

Nothing innovative from HERO. the same story “pick up some HONDA bikes & rename as HERO”
I think they have license to market few of the Honda products as their own until 2014. Isn’t there a conflict of interest here? Please clarify. Anyway, after that they need to design their own stuff…will be do or die for Hero Motocorp.
Noting is impressive, hero have just change the look & name nothing else.
ONLY Maestro 110 Scooter have impressed as it having some look & good engine. Now hero have jumped in scooter range as pleasure was not impressive at all.
