Honda CBR150R to be launched during the end of March 2012!

Gunning for the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0′s jugular, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India will launch the 2012 Honda CBR150R premium sports motorcycle in March 2012. The Honda CBR150R was showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, as one of Honda’s seven new or refreshed products for the Indian market in 2012. The CBR150R is the little brother of the bigger capacity CBR250R quite literally, as the 150cc motorcycle is similarly styled to the CBR250R. Currently, the Honda CBR150R sells in South East Asia markets as an entry level sports touring motorcycle.

The Honda CBR150R features a liquid cooled, DOHC four valve 150cc four stroke engine, very similar to the the CBR250R. The single cylinder, fuel injected engine produces a peak power of ~~19.5 Bhp~~ 18 PS and a peak torque of 13 Nm ~~17 Nm~~. ~~Both these figures~~ The peak power is slightly higher than the R15′s 17 Bhp-15 Nm and so is the kerb weight which at 138 kgs makes the CBR150R 2 kilograms heavier than the R15. The CBR150R however does have a few advantages when compared to the R15, that prospective buyers would want to consider.

First of all, the seating position of the CBR150R mirrors the CBR250R, which means that it isn’t as radical as the R15. While the obvious trade off will be that the riding position might not be the best one for track use, it will deliver more comfort in day to day conditions and for touring. Also, the pillion seat of the CBR150R will be more useful than the joke of a seat that the R15 Version 2.0 comes with. These two factors might tilt the balance in favor of the CBR150R for those who might want a stylish, fully faired motorcycle for commuting on weekdays and touring on the weekends. Honda is anticipated to price the CBR150R at INR 1.2 lakhs.
