Bajaj Auto will launch the Boxer 150 bike tomorrow, according to sources close to IndianCarsBikes. The new Bajaj Boxer 150 has been the brainchild of Mr.Rajiv Bajaj. The Boxer 150 will open-up a new segment in the local bike market in India. The bike is infact targeted mainly at customers in rural India. It will be placed as a utility bike, a segment which got almost dissolved long ago when bikes like the Rajdoot and the Yezdi ruled our streets. One stand out feature of the new Bajaj Boxer BM150 is that the motorcycle doesn’t feature the Bajaj logo anywhere, pointing to Bajaj now opting to develop individual sub brands, minus the Bajaj moniker altogether.

Our sources also tell us that the Boxer 150 will be priced Rs 48,000-Rs 50,000. The Bajaj Boxer was a popular bike when it was launched years back. But, the Boxer had a 100 cc single cylinder engine which was frugal but not as powerful and torquey as the classic bikes. Now, with the 150 cc engine will pack-in more punch the Boxer will truly match the performance of the classic utility bikes. The new bike is expected to strike a cord with the rural population for its tough build.

Notice the long travel of the rear suspension. This means, the bike will be capable of lugging substantially heavy loads. Also, the bike will easily carry three persons which is not a rare sight in rural India. The rear grab-handles too have an extended carrier equipped with hooks which will aid riders to carry heavy loads. Other manufacturers have tried to revive the utility segment in the past and this time it will Bajaj Auto who will attempt to do the same.

Will Bajaj succeed at doing this? Well, only time will tell but, surely the new bike will attract buyers who have been deprived of such a machine of years. It was earlier thought that a 150 cc engine on the Boxer wouldn’t actually be a good idea for, it will not be as frugal as a 100 cc engine. Answering his critics, Rajiv Bajaj said, that people who need such a bike require enough torque from the engine which called for a larger capacity.
